International School
Tonight in my ESL class we took a group picture. Later, when I was looking at it and at all of the different nationalities represented in the group, I kind of got the chills. When I was a kid I used to play a game I called "International School" with all of the dolls my grandma had gotten me during her travels. It was like playing Barbies only with international dolls. I had a school for them and I came up with names and "back stories" that matched their countries. I did all the research in encyclopedias and came up with authentic names and cities they were from based on their country. Weird, I know, but that was me! Fascinated by all things international. As I looked at the picture of my ESL group I realized that it was kind of like my "International School" come true!

Lost and Found Magic
When I came back from my last trip to Spain I thought I had lost an earring that I really liked. The earrings were a gift from Juan and Agueda so they were extra special to me. I looked through my cosmetic bag and everywhere else I could think an earring might be in my luggage and purse. It seemed that the earring was gone. This past weekend I was visiting my college roommate, Amy. I opened my travel cosmetic bag and heard something clink on the floor. I discovered that it was the missing earring! I'm not sure exactly where it was but I'm guessing that it had fallen into a pocket-like area created by the zipper.I must've unzipped the bag further this time than before which opened up the pocket and the earring fell out. I told Amy about finding the earring. She said, "I hope some of that finding luck rubs off on us. Megan lost her Pandora bracelet a week or so ago." Later that day while we were out Megan texted Amy to tell her that she had found her bracelet in the clothes hamper, caught on some of her clothes! The Finding magic worked!

Fortune
Today I found a picture from 1987 of the DLA intern group I started my career with. On the back of the picture I found an old, yellowed fortune from a fortune cookie. It said, "You are one of the the people who goes places in life." It made me smile because who would've known how true that would be 25 years later?! No, I'm not a CEO or even a senior manager but my career has sent me to more than 20 states and 2 foreign countries. Apart from that, since 1987 I've probably been to a few more states than that on my own and to four more foreign countries! I really have gone places. So lucky!

Law of Attraction
I truly believe in the Law of Attraction. I have experienced. I have to admit, though, that when I get in a funk, even though I understand the Law, I just can't get myself thinking right and know that I'm not sending out good vibes. Today I woke up in one of those funks. I've been like that a lot lately. Then on Facebook I saw that Michele had posted the picture below. I had also seen this quote on Facebook a few days ago. All of a sudden I thought, "OK, what if I turned my thinking around and assumed that everything was going to go my way instead of against me. What if I assumed the best instead of the worse?" It felt weird but I tried to think that way. Later that morning I got a nice email from a friend that I thought had shut me out of their life and that I may never hear from again. That turned around my thinking even more. Maybe all was not lost. Maybe everything I assumed they were doing against me wasn't even real. I have also felt down about travel opportunities that seem to be falling through. I love to travel and have trips to look forward to. Last night Dwight and I had been talking about how fun it would be to go visit our niece in San Antonio. Today, he called me from Wisconsin and said that we should start planning the trip because he gave up his seat on the plane today for a later flight and got a $500 voucher!

Connected by Satellite
A funny little coincidence to share today . . I was driving home from work and listening to Sirius Satellite radio. I haven't listened to the 80's channel in a long time so I turned to that. A song was playing, "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen. I vaguely remember the song but stopped to listen to it because I used to like that group. Later when I got home I saw the Facebook status of a friend I used to work with (that now lives in Colorado), "Big smile on my face - just heard "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen on the radio today." I haven't heard of that song in a long, long time and then twice in one night. I commented back to her that I had heard it too, on Sirius radio. She said that's where she heard it, too. So, we were connected across the miles by a song on satellite radio. Technology is everyday magic!

Portal to Heaven
I went out running on a cold winter's day a few days ago. I don't think I've ever run when it was this cold and it took a lot of motivation to get myself to do it. This is what I was rewarded with. Portal to heaven.
Spirit Guides
I haven't thought about having a spirit guide in a long time. But the other night, I think I might've called to one in my sleep (isn't that when these things happen?!) Anyhow, here's the story: The other night I had a bunch of weird dreams that I remembered in a lot of detail. One of the dreams really wasn't much of a dream. I just heard someone shouting "Ollie! Help! I'm listening!" in a desperate tone. I woke up almost shaking because I felt like I had really heard someone yelling this. Then I realized it was my voice yelling it. Since no one woke up I assumed that I didn't really yell. I kind of forgot about it until the next day. Driving from work to ESL class I remembered it. Then, for some reason, I had this message that I was calling to my spirit guide in this dream. I thought more about having a spirit guide. The problem was that I don't like the name "Ollie" for a spirit guide. It reminds me of Laurel and Hardy or a short round guy eating hamburgers! Not very exotic. So I thought, maybe it is really spelled "Alli" or "Ali." But, no, I kept seeing the word "Ollie" in my mind. So I accepted it. A little further down the road I remembered that Sonny's name given to him at the Human Society was Ollie! And, Buckeye's name given to her by the rescue group that had her was "Polly!" So, in a way, maybe those two animals were connected to my spirit guide?! After class, I was driving home still thinking about all of this. I hadn't thought about having a spirit guide for a long time. I was trying to figure out if I believed in all of this. I was also thinking how nice it would be to have someone to talk to, to guide me, to help me feel better, and to provide some direction when I need it. All of a sudden, a car came out of nowhere and almost hit me. Then it sped away. I felt like maybe that was a sign. Ollie was trying to tell me that he/she is here and ready to talk if I'm listening.
